A directory of surgeries in which Germany's 40,000-plus chronic kidney patients who require regular dialysis can obtain treatment while on holiday has been published by the German General Practitioners' Dialysis Society. The 100-page, bilingual (German/English) guide also has an international section listing dialysis centres abroad. Krankenkassen will now reimburse the cost of up to six weeks' dialysis elsewhere in Europe, notes the Suddeutsche Zeitung. The guide can be obtained from: Deutsche Dialysegesellschaft niedergelassener Arzte eV, Postfach 132304, 42050 Wuppertal, Germany.
