Magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) plus contrast arteriography (CA) results in superior treatment plans

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) shows roughly equivalent sensitivity and specificity to contrast arteriography (CA) in the presurgical evaluation of patients with severe lower limb atherosclerotic occlusive disease, concludes a study in JAMA (September 20th). A team from the American College of Radiology Rapid Technology Assessment Group carried out a multi centre blinded prospective study of 155 patients to compare the use of MRA with current CA patient evaluation techniques.
