Immunomedics' agent useful in bone infection diagnosis

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Immunomedics' LeukoScan could be useful in diagnosing osteomyelitis in long bones and in patients with diabetic foot ulcers. Phase III clinical trials showed the company's imaging agent was comparable to or better than conventional imaging procedures using radiolabelled white blood cells to image infectious sites. Delayed diagnosis of osteomyelitis can allow the infection to progress to a point where amputation is the only option, says Immunomedics.
