US cardiology company Medtronic has decided to transfer its European headquarters from Belgium to Switzerland. Medtronic has opted for St Sulpice in the Swiss canton of Vaud because of the presence of the technical college EPFL and the Lausanne University Hospital medical centre CHUV. The company plans to build a plant in the Yverdon region, which is planned to come on stream by 1997, and expects to create around 100 new jobs in the area.
