American Home Products intends to merge its two major medical device companies - Davis & Geck and Sherwood Medical. AHP acquired Davis & Geck through its purchase last year of American Cyanamid. Previously, German company B Braun Melsungen had shown interest in purchasing wound closure specialist Davis & Geck. Morgan Stanley analysts estimate that Davis & Geck had sales of $286 million in 1994 and Sherwood $643 million. Sherwood manufactures surgical, wound care and dental products, laboratory supplies and veterinary devices.
