Executive Summary
Indigo Medical's portable Indigo 830 laser system, which is said to provide a cheaper and quicker alternative to transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) in patients with benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH), is now available in Germany. Developed in the US in collaboration with Sandia National Labs and the US Air Force (see Clinica No 604, p 18), the system is being marketed by Indigo's Munster-based subsidiary. Treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic.
