Altana's pharmaceutical sales up 5% in first half:

German chemicals and pharma group Altana has reported a 5% sales increase to DM 727 million ($506 million) for its pharmaceutical division in the first half. Altana's diagnostics operations, mainly conducted through Byk Gulden, contributed 19% to pharmaceutical sales last year. No details on first-half diagnostics sales were released. Altana's total turnover rose 3% to DM 1,454 million while net income was flat at DM 39 million.
