Picker International (US) has received FDA clearance for its echo planar imaging package for MRI procedures. The EPI-I multi-shot system acquires data in a few seconds with total scan times of around one or two minutes, says Picker. The technique can be used on Picker's high-field systems which feature 16 mT/m operating gradients. The EPI-I package has been tested on Picker's 1.5 T Edge and 1.0 T Vista systems at ten US sites for applications including paediatric imaging, prostate cancer staging, assessment of white matter disease in the brain and evaluation of stroke-induced brain damage.
