GE Medical Systems (US) has formed agreements with five US telecommunications companies to develop networks for electronic transmission of medical images and diagnostic information between hospitals, clinics and remote facilities. GE HealthNet was created with BellSouth, Ameritech, US West, Bell Atlantic and NYNEX who will collaborate with GE on the design, implementation and management of local- and wide-area networks.
