Executive Summary
Century Medical, a division of Itochu, one of the largest Japanese trading companies, will be purchased by US Surgical (see Clinica No 641, p 16). Based near Tokyo, Century was established as the Japanese distributor of US Surgical's products such as surgical staplers and laparoscopic instruments, which generated all of the Japanese company's $100 million annualised turnover.
