Smiths Industries Medical Systems (UK) buys German distributor:

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Smiths Industries Medical Systems (UK) has paid DM 4.6 million ($2.9 million) cash for Boehringer Ingelheim Medizintechnik (Germany), one of its major European distributors. BIMT and 20 of its sales staff will be merged with another SIMS subsidiary, Medic-Eschmann in Hamburg. The acquisition should add some DM 10 million to SIMS' annual turnover - BIMT has sales of DM 20 million but half of the products it distributes come from SIMS. Neither BIMT nor Medic-Eschmann have manufacturing operations; SIMS manufactures medical equipment in Germany through its PvB Medizintechnik subsidiary in Kirchseeon, near Munich.
