Executive Summary

Screening children only of known victims of cardiovascular disease may miss some at-risk children whose young parents have not yet developed disease symptoms, says Circulation (January 15th). Recent results from the Bogalusa Heart Study, conducted in Louisiana, US, indicate that, as parents and children mature, there is an increasing correlation between cardiovascular events in adults and risk factors in children.
