Nycomed (UK) has launched a point-of-care C-reactive protein (CRP) test. NycoCard CRP gives a result from a finger-prick blood sample in two minutes. The result can be read semi-quantitatively with a colour card or quantitatively, using a densitometer. The 48-test kit costs £69 ($110) including controls.
