Executive Summary

Vidar introduced an improved VXR-12 film digitiser at RSNA. The device allows the operator to shift the greyscale range of the VXR-12, which has an exposure range of 10-40ms, down 0.3 on the optical density scale capturing more detail from dark areas of a film. Vidar, based in Herndon, Virginia, says that the digitiser provides smoother greyscale output and less posterisation in the image when using window and level controls after a scan.
