Elekta to pay up to $75 million for Philips unit

Swedish company Elekta plans to pay $65 million for Philips' radiation therapy division and a possible further $5-10 million depending on the division's order books during calendar 1997. The two companies have signed a preliminary agreement and expect to complete the deal by the end of January. Payment would be partly in shares and cash, leaving Philips with a stake in Elekta of up to 10%.
