Caliper Technologies says a drug-development collaboration with Hoffmann-LaRoche will help it to develop diagnostic applications for its laboratory-on-a-chip technology. Roche has made an equity investment as part of an $8.5 million private financing deal. As a result of the deal, the two companies will adapt Caliper's assay technology for rapid drug screening.
