Abbott Laboratories is to be the exclusive distributor of Australian Biomedical's automated haematology slide maker and stainer. The US parent of Australian Biomedical, Vision Systems, expects manufacturing of the product to begin in late 1996 or early 1997. Abbott is one of the top three suppliers to the haematology instrument market, which is worth around $1,000 million annually. The worldwide agreement, which is for a minimum of five years, also provides for future development of other haematology instruments.
