Executive Summary
The leader in renal equipment production, Baxter Healthcare has launched an affiliate, Renal Management Strategies (RMS). The new division is intended to offer a service to nephrologists operating in the financially straightened healthcare environment of the 1990s. RMS will provide a nationwide service enabling physicians treating people with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) to obtain the most comprehensive capitated contracts from third-party payers. Patients, argues Baxter, will benefit from access to managed care tailored to ESRD, whilst nephrologists will have access to clinical support and data enabling them to balance clinical need with cost.
