Stents still strong at five years

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Those who doubt the long term safety of stents may be relieved to know the benefits appear to last at least five years. Writing in the journal of the American college of Cardiology (October) Dr Donald Baim of the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston said: "The fear that stented vessels would do well for the first year and then fall apart has been pretty much pushed into the background."
