Executive Summary

Escalon is developing ultrafast lasers for refractive eye surgery. The company, which is based in Skillman, New Jersey, recently received two patents and notice of a third from the US Trademark and Patent Office. Escalon says that the three most common eye disorders are nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. As many as 140 million people in the US use eyeglasses and/or contact lenses to correct refractive disorders.
