Executive Summary
Fuji Photo Optical (Japan) will begin sales of its EVE400 series of endoscopes in Japan in November. The endoscopes feature a super-freeze shutter that allows clear images of the oesophagus to be taken even when it is close to the heart where movement is rapid. The new system produces much higher resolution than conventional endoscopes and can therefore pick up detail such as abnormalities in capillaries. The company will begin exporting the equipment which costs ¥,915,000 ($62,900) next year.
