Executive Summary
Toray Industries plans to restructure its medical device business and concentrate on dialysis systems and catheters, reports Japan Chemical Week. Toray withdrew from the clinical reagents market with the dissolving of its joint venture with Fujirebio, Toray-Fuji Bionics in April (see Clinica No 700/701, p 21). The Japanese company also intends to withdraw from the lithotripter business in the near future. It hopes the shift of focus will boost its share of the Japanese dialysis equipment market from the current level of 20%.
