Guidant and Hewlett-Packard develop coronary catheter:
This article was originally published in Clinica
Hewlett-Packard is collaborating with Guidant on the development of a directional coronary atherectomy (DCA) catheter. Hewlett-Packard will modify its intravascular ultrasound system console and develop a DCA patient interface and a console upgrade kit for use with Guidant's DCA catheter and related products. Guidant will sell the HP diagnostic equipment with its DCA catheter. The first procedure using Guidant's SureCut DCA catheter with HP's diagnostic equipment was performed in August at the Thoraxcenter in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The results of the BOAT trial have shown that DCA can perform better than balloon angioplasty (see this issue, page 23).
