Wright Medical Technology's Osteoset synthetic bone replacement material has been cleared by the US FDA. Osteoset consists of calcium sulphate which is resorbed by the body within four to eight weeks, a comparable rate to new bone growth. The material is available in sterile pellet form and is visible radiographically. The company, which is based in Arlington, Tennessee, estimates that more than 300,000 bone graft procedures are completed annually in the US.
