High-tech equipment and other hospital hardware manufacturers will be the main beneficiaries of sustained economic growth and development of hospital infrastructure in new growth markets. This is the conclusion reached by the LEK consultancy in its study on the Global Competitiveness of the European Medical Device Industry. Growth of the world market for medical devices is being boosted, LEK notes, by the emergence of rapidly growing markets in Asia and parts of Latin America. These are experiencing growth rates three to four times higher than those in the US, EU and Japan.
