Acuson has released an upgraded version of its Aegis mini-PACS ultrasound archiving system. Release 2.6 supports two monitors - allowing recent and historical images to be viewed together - and is compatible with all the company's high-performance systems, including the Sequoia. The capacity of the removable magneto-optical storage cartridge has been doubled and up to 500,000 images can be stored on line. Shipments will begin in the fourth quarter and the package will be available as an upgrade for earlier versions of Aegis.
