The Laboratoire de l'ORSTOM in Montpellier, France, is developing a test to detect hepatitis B in its infectious stage. The new assay, which is based on apolipoprotein H's attraction for HBs antigens, has shown positive results in tests on 500 sera with results superior to traditional methods and approaching those of PCR.
