Tecnobiomedica, the Italian organisation aiming to develop a permanently implantable artificial heart, is looking forward to a further injection of funds in the shape of a government research contract this month. According to Il Sole-24 Ore, Lit 75 billion ($48 million) is to be allocated to the "Cardiology 2" programme, which includes the Tecnobiomedica project in which Sorin Biomedica, Esaote Biomedica, Nuova Sias and Dideco are involved. They are supported by other small and medium-sized companies, as well as universities and research centres.
