A portable ultrasound system for battlefield diagnosis of wounded soldiers is being developed by a newly formed consortium of international companies. Siemens, based in Germany, will be responsible for the ultrasound technology. Tetrad of Englewood, Colorado, will develop laparoscopic probes and Surgical Navigation of Broomfield, also in Colorado, is providing image fusion software for the diagnostic system.
