Executive Summary
ThermoTrex subsidiary Trex Medical has purchased XRE, a manufacturer of specialised X-ray systems for the diagnosis of coronary artery disease, for around $17 million. ThermoTrex produces mammography and stereotactic needle-biopsy systems and general X-ray equipment. Littleton, Massachusetts-based XRE had a turnover of $29.3 million in 1995. Trex Medical estimates the market for imaging systems used in cardiac catheterisation at $1 billion.
