UK retests Abbott HIV samples:

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

All the stored samples that had been assigned HIV-negative status by Abbott's withdrawn IMx HIV-1/-2 third generation assay have now been re-tested in the UK. Of the 20,900 stored samples four false negatives were identified. The UK Department of Health says 800 of the 2,700 tests which were not stored were carried out by the NHS while the remainder were performed privately for insurance and visa purposes and are considered low risk.
