Cook Medical (Bloomington, Indiana) has started a clinical trial of its Formula PTX renal stent. The trial will evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the paclitaxel-eluting, polymer-free stent in the treatment of renal artery disease. 120 patients will be enrolled, and initial results are expected in the fourth quarter of 2010.
