A £50 million privately-funded NHS hospital project will provide a medical science park and 250 additional beds at St James's University Hospital in Leeds. The largest hospital development contract under the UK Private Finance Initiative to date, the project's Medipark envisages partnerships between research, medical equipment and biotechnology teams and the teaching hospital. The development is expected to be complete in 1998.
