SmithKline Beecham's clinical laboratory division sales were £215 million ($350 million) in the third quarter of 1997, up 2% (or 9% on a comparable basis). The UK company attributes the increase mainly to volume growth. Operating profit rose 18% to £24 million, 26% on a comparable basis.
