Executive Summary
A ligament blocking device for use in knee ligament surgery has been launched by French company BGCI. The product comprises an expandable blocking mechanism made of polyethylene, into which fits a titanium screw. This is inserted into the ligament and bone, then tightened to block the ligament into place. Unlike interference screws, it does not damage the ligament or bone through tapping, and the support area is larger, says BGCI.
