Advanced Magnetics' MRI imaging contrast agent, Feridex, has been launched in Japan. The launch through the company's Japanese marketing partner, Eiken Chemical and distributor Tanabe Seiyaku is significant for Advanced as Japan was one of the last major markets to approve Feridex. The company claims its use in liver cancer - the third largest cause of cancer death in Japan - may lead to earlier detection.
