Executive Summary
Radical surgery produces identical outcomes to those of radiotherapy for early-stage cervical cancer, according to a report in the Lancet. A prospective study of 343 Italian patients randomly assigned them to either surgery or radiotherapy, with some of the highest-risk patients given adjuvant radiotherapy after surgery (Lancet, Vol 350, p 535).
