New review postpones London hospital closures

The closure of several London hospitals is to be postponed while a review of the UK capital's healthcare needs is carried out. Health Secretary Frank Dobson said the review would supersede the controversial 1992 Tomlinson report which recommended the closure of several hospitals and specialist units. The review team, to be led by Sir Leslie Turnberg, president of the Royal College of Physicians, will report by October.
