bioMerieux has released a 90-minute quantitative assay for anti-hepatitis A antibodies in the UK. The company says it has 100% sensitivity and can detect antibodies down to 15 mIU/ml. The two-step test is based on competitive inhibition and requires 200 ml serum or plasma. Hepatitis A is rare in the UK, but common in sewage workers and in those who travel to less developed countries.
