Executive Summary
A pilot study of the revised disease code system, ICD-10, is to be set up by doctors in the German regions of Niedersachsen and Sachsen-Anhalt from April 1st, 1997. From January 1st, 1998, both in- and outpatient procedures will have to conform to the new coding, reports Arzte Zeitung. The revised code was originally implemented for doctors in January 1996, but the transition phase was extended because of pressure from doctors and data protection groups (see Clinica No 688, p 3).
