Echocardiography procedures in the US have risen 6% to 7 million per year, according to a survey from Technology Marketing Group. The research organisation, based in Des Plaines, Illinois, found that there were around 2,100 sites performing the procedures in 1997. 84% were 2D Echo Transthoracic non-stress procedures, while 53% of vascular ultrasound procedures were carotid and 43% were peripheral.
