Cardima has CE-marked its second microcatheter for treating atrial fibrillation. Like the company's Revelation microcatheter, which was cleared for treating the condition in August 1998, the Revelation TX device ablates heart tissue laterally rather than at the tip. The new microcatheter can also determine atrial tissue temperature during an ablation procedure, which could help doctors reduce the chances of blood clot formation, said the Fremont, California-based company.
