Executive Summary
The US Senate has passed the House version of a bill reauthorising the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA). The measure, which will now be sent to President Clinton to be signed into law, includes a new provision requiring mammography facilities to directly notify women of their mammogram results in language the patient can easily understand. Since MQSA was enacted six years ago, the number of facilities unable to pass image quality tests has fallen from 11% to 2% (see Clinica No 826, p 6).
