OSI Systems is paying $7.75 million for osteoporosis diagnostic device manufacturer Osteometer MediTech. OSI says that Osteometer MediTech is one of largest suppliers of bone scanners worldwide and concentrates on the lower-priced end of the market. Its DTX-200 dual energy X-ray densitometer for forearm use has FDA approval, while its DTU-one, launched last year outside the US and claimed to be the first ultrasound scanner for the diagnosis of osteoporosis, is under PMA consideration. OSI is based in Hawthorne, California.
