Health insurance premiums in South Korea need to be raised to keep up with increased expenditure by the insurance system, according to Korea's Medical Insurance Management Corporation. The average treatment cost per inpatient case covered by insurance rose 6.5% last year to Won823,449 ($530), reports Pharma Koreana. The equivalent figure for outpatient treatment was Won24,352, up 7.7% on 1996.
