Novoste steps up radiation treatment trials

Heart patients who receive stents which then block up when the vessel wall grows inside them are to receive radiation therapy in a new clinical trial. The stents and radiation therapy trial, headed by Novoste, will test the safety and efficacy of beta radiation delivered through a catheter to prevent restenosis, a condition which affects up to 30% of patients treated with stents for narrowing vessels.
