Executive Summary
ECRI, the health services research agency, has published a technology assessment report on Magnetic Resonance Angiography of the Head and Neck. The report evaluates the quantity and quality of clinical evidence on MRA for diagnosing various conditions including carotid artery stenosis, stroke, vascular malformations of the brain, and brain aneurysms. It also includes recommendations for decisions about hardware and/or software acquisition; discusses safety issues; details the pros and cons of MRA methods; looks at competing technologies; and specifies manufacturers and costs of MRA equipment.
