Medicare payments will be slowed and claims streamlined

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

In order to save money, the Clinton administration has decided to be less prompt in its payment of Medicare claims submitted by doctors, hospitals and other health care providers. The government has also ordered insurance contractors that review and pay Medicare claims on its behalf to send fewer notices to beneficiaries and use telephone voice mail to answer calls from doctors about unpaid claims, the New York Times reported last week.
