This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

A US District Court has found in favour of General Surgical Innovations in its patent litigation with Origin, a Guidant subsidiary. In the latest round of the case, the court ruled that GSI's Spacemaker technology did not infringe Origin's patent. GSI, of Cupertino, California, produces tissue dissection systems based on the technology. The products enable surgeons to create a surgical working space by automatically separating tissue.
