A device for repairing tears in the shoulder muscle and treating other muscle injuries, which dissolves after healing, has gone on sale in the US. The BioROC suture fastener, made by Innovasive Devices, is used to reattach muscle back to bone, a method normally used in shoulder injuries. It is fixed in place using a minimally invasive, arthroscopic procedure.
